首先我建议你去一个网站 http://www.testyourvocab.com/ 测一下词汇
本人是初三学生但词汇量已达到8000 是真的最起码读TIME没问题
词汇是沉淀下来的我个人认为它和口语有一丝关系但提升它最好的方法就是读书
关于读书我建议你去买一本教材 SIDE BY SIDE 这是本很基础的英语书 BASIC LEARNING
这本书共有四册根据书所述它的总词汇有3000 但我学完后发现各种派生词课文中的词语差不多有6000 它的短语和句子十分地道每周学一课只学词汇和课文语法不用背当然要用字典·
还有一本书走遍美国 Family album USA 这本书的词汇是日常交际所用的
不要忘记查单词最好买牛津高阶英汉双解词典没事翻看再买一本袖珍的微型词典没事背背
在岁月的累积下你会发现自己的词汇在不断增加在与你的外国朋友交谈时不要害怕问他们一些你不知道的词汇
再次是对英语的敏感有种一见到英语就要看的冲动

首先非常感谢你的建议，我还想问一下，在读书中你的确可以认识到很多的单词，但是这仅限于”看“，有些时候老外说的一些词我其实是认识的，只是光凭”听“没能反应过来（说白了就是没听出来-.-），这怎么办？然后说个题外话，I‘m so curious about your vocabulary，you are a freshman（9th grade），but you should know 8000 english words！Even some college students can’t know that much，How do you do that？？！！

Firstly i'm sorry to point out a mistake "freshman" means the college students who are new
(grade 1)
Secondly the vocabulary bases on the life you don't have to be fully aware of what the foreigners said you just need to know what they mean
In summary if you work hard enough you can make it
